Late Start Days

  • STUDENT LATE START DAYS

The Board of Education approved 12 Student Late Start Days (a.k.a. Early Morning Work Sessions for teachers) for the 2024-2025 school year to provide designated times for teachers of the same course within the same department to share their best instructional practices. Each morning work session is 75 minutes in length. A student’s daily class schedule will start on these days following work sessions at 8:50 a.m. for early-start schools (Fremd, Hoffman Estates, and Schaumburg High School) and at 9:35 a.m. for late-start schools (Conant and Palatine High Schools).

During student late start times, teachers are grouped in professional learning teams (PLTs) based on the courses they teach. PLTs continue to enhance the practice of continuous improvement targeted on student success by providing time for teachers to collaboratively identify potential improvements relative to curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
